John R. Carlson is an American biologist and professor. He currently holds the Eugene Higgins Professor of Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology at Yale University. == Research == The Carlson lab studies insect chemosensation using the model organism ''Drosophila''. Significant contributions to the field include a study that identified ligands for most of the ''Drosophila'' ''Olfactory'' ''Receptor'' (''Or'') repertoire and a similar study that characterized the ''Or'' repertoire of the ''Anopheles gambiae'' mosquito. Carlson lab research has also been featured in ''Scientific American''.
